We’re excited to announce that HYROX programming is now part of our regular training schedule at Tribe! If you’re unfamiliar with HYROX, it’s a fitness race that’s taking the fitness world by storm. Imagine combining endurance running with functional movements like rowing, ski-erg, burpees, wall balls, and more all designed to test your full-body strength and stamina. HYROX offers a balance between cardio and strength, making it the perfect challenge for anyone looking to push their fitness to new levels.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is structured as a race, where you complete eight 1km runs, with a different functional workout between each run. It’s about consistency, pacing, and the ability to tackle various movements efficiently. This programming allows you to build endurance, improve functional strength, and sharpen your mental toughness. Whether you’re aiming for competition or just want to elevate your fitness game, HYROX will push you to reach new heights. 

What to Expect in Tribe’s HYROX Programming

Our HYROX classes are designed to mirror the structure of the race, broken down into manageable sections, with a focus on both technique and endurance. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Diverse, Functional Movements: From the sled push and pull to farmer’s carries, wall balls, and burpees, you’ll experience a variety of movements designed to challenge multiple muscle groups.
  • Scalability for All Levels: Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced athlete, each workout is adjustable to fit your fitness level. You’ll build up to the full race format while getting stronger every day.
  • Community Support: HYROX provides you with the opportunity to challenge yourself and have fun, especially when you’re doing it alongside your Tribe. Expect plenty of camaraderie, encouragement, and high fives along the way.

First HYROX PFT at Tribe Athletics – October 27th 

Join us on October 27th at 10AM for our very first HYROX Personal Fitness Test (PFT) at Tribe Athletics! The HYROX PFT is a great way to introduce yourself to HYROX training while giving you a clear measure of your current fitness level. Registration is now open, register here

This PFT consists of:

  • 1000m Run (outdoor or treadmill at 2% incline)
  • 50 Burpee Broad Jumps (90 cm)
  • 100 Stationary Lunges (Fully Extended)
  • 1000m Row
  • 30 Push Ups (Hand Release)
  • 100 Wallballs (6kg male / 4 kg female)

Q: Is HYROX for me if I’m not a seasoned athlete?
Absolutely! HYROX programming is scalable, which means we can adjust the exercises and running distances to fit your current fitness level. Our goal is to help you progress over time, whether that’s running faster, pushing heavier sleds, or improving your burpee form.

Q: Do I need to be a runner to enjoy HYROX?
Not at all. While running is part of the HYROX race, our programming will help you gradually build up your endurance. Plus, we’ll work with you on pacing strategies to ensure you can maintain your energy throughout the workout.

Q: How is this different from a regular HIIT class?
HYROX takes functional fitness to the next level. While HIIT workouts typically focus on short bursts of effort, HYROX emphasizes a combination of steady endurance and strength, mimicking race conditions where pacing and consistent effort are key.

Q: What if I want to compete in an actual HYROX event?
You’re in luck! Our programming will prepare you for official HYROX events. You’ll get firsthand experience with the exercises used in competition, and we’ll help you with the conditioning and mindset to cross that finish line confidently.
