With a new year comes the almighty season of “resolutions” and committing to a healthier you is a popular one. Losing weight, gaining muscle, eating better, training more… you name it. Unfortunately, research has shown that 43% of individuals end up quitting their resolutions by the end of January!
It’s difficult to stay the course… I get it. But over the years I’ve found something that helps keep me accountable better than any accountabili-buddy or app on my phone…
COMPETING.
Although the idea may not initially seem appetizing for some, knowing I have signed up for a future event has always given me that little extra discipline to keep pushing forward. Even outside of the accountability aspect, competing gives you an opportunity to discover what you’re truly capable of… to the point of surprising yourself. It’s an adrenaline rush unlike any other I’ve experienced that builds self-confidence and a new understanding of what hard work and dedication can do for you – in ALL aspects of your life.
Throughout the year we will be posting upcoming local weightlifting meets in case the competition bug bites you too. Make sure to keep your eye on our Tribe Events Calendar as well for other important competition dates such as the upcoming CrossFit Open and the in-house Lift Off. And remember, you can always reach out to any of your coaches for advice, answers, and guidance.
Even if you’ve never competed before… commit to your goals, commit to yourself, and find that “new you” that’s actually been there all along.
